Walter Coffey (1876-1956) was the seventh president of the University of Minnesota, serving from 1941 to 1945.
Coffey was raised in Indiana. He received a degree from Franklin College. He latter went to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign first as a sheep herder and later as a student and eventually a professor.
